DVSS Day At the Gardens

Our Flagship Afternoon Tea is the Excursion that commenced DVSS over a decade ago; we met at the Denver Botanic Gardens on an agreeable May afternoon, each providing tea or scones, or tea sandwiches for an elaborate tea picnic. Our locale was the old Pergola in the Woodland Mosaic. That Pergola has been replaced by the exquisite Victorian Solarium, and remains one of our favorite places for Afternoon Tea and photos.

Other than a hiatus while COVID-19 was raging, we’ve been hosting DVSS Day at the Gardens every year since. Members and guests all provide tea foods for sharing, and the Instigators bring out all the china, crystal, and silver for the Delight of our guests.

Since we don’t rent space in the Gardens, we choose our location by what’s available on a given day. If the Solarium in the Woodland Mosaic is available, we will set up in there. However, it’s popular for weddings, and so is usually occupied - and we find the Herb Garden to be very servicable for our needs. A map of the Gardens is located here.

What to expect

In short, expect an elaborate Afternoon Tea, a hearty affair, featuring a wide variety of tea foods that most guests will find suitable. We hold space for our Gluten Free, Vegan, and Low-Carb friends, and if you bring any of those sorts of foods, be assured that there will be segregated spaces to meet your needs.

Admission to the Gardens is on a timed basis. As this is a public space, you are welcome to arrive when ever you are comfortable doing so; please visit the Tickets page to reserve your entry time.

Neo-Victorian Attire is always admired, but never required. However, DBG is a beautiful backdrop for photos and is a great opportunity to record your sartorial achievements. Of course, we’ve collected many photos over the years; these are a few of our favorites.
