More Whiskey, Less Tea - Como’s Boreas Pass Railroad Day

  • Como Roundhouse 411 Boreas Pass Road Como, CO, 80432 United States (map)

Celebrate the rich rail history of the American West at Como’s Boreas Pass Railroad Day. The South Park Rail Society and the Denver, South Park & Pacific Historical Society are working to preserve and restore a segment of the old Denver South Park & Pacific/Colorado & Southern narrow-gauge railroad facility and rolling stock.

Public short train rides will be offered; other sights to see in Como include the restored old depot museum and the hotel (which doesn’t seem to be yet ready to host guests.) The day features a concert by the Denver Brass at 2:00.

The Roundhouse was built in 1881 by Italian stonemasons, and is in restoration, as is their 2-6-2 Baldwin locomotive, Klondike Kate.

Depending on interest, we may proceed down the road to Fairplay and tour South Park City in the afternoon.
